1. Abstract

XAUTO is a utility token on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) designed to serve as the economic layer for a decentralised vehicle provenance protocol. The protocol enables garages, inspection authorities, and vehicle owners to record, verify, and retrieve immutable maintenance and ownership histories — linked to a vehicle's VIN — on a public blockchain.

With the European Union's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) mandating Digital Product Passports (DPPs) from July 2026, and Battery Passports for electric and industrial vehicles from February 2027, the automotive industry faces an imminent regulatory inflection point.
